Rabiraag observes Tagore death anniversary

Cultural organisation Rabiraag observed the death anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore through a cultural programme at the Dance and Music Centre Auditorium, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on August 8. A music album featuring renowned Tagore artiste Sadi Mohammad, titled "Srabon Akashey," was also launched at the programme.
"The songs have been carefully selected for the listeners, and I've tried to include songs that are not widely presented," said Sadi.
The CD features ten songs -- "Ami Srabon akashey," "Emon din-e taarey bola jai," "Golap phool phutiye achhey," "Duurey kothao," "Amar jey shob ditey hobey," "O bhai Kanai, karey janai," "Ekhono gelo na andhar," "Moron rey, tuhu mamo" and more. The CD has been produced under the banner of Country Music.
The musical programme, titled "Jaye Din Srabon Din Jaye," began with a rendition of the familiar Tagore number "Badol din-er prothom kadam phool" by Shamsun Nahar. Makhon Hawladar rendered "Aji borishono mukhorito.”
One after another, artistes of Rabiraag paid homage to the poet through renditions of his songs. Ranjit Roy performed "Chhaya ghonaichhey bon-e", and "Aaji jhoro jhoro." Other performances were staged by Shafiqur Rahman, Swapan Dutt, Sandhya Bhattacharya, Enakkhi Saha Roy and Nandita Yasmin.
Curtains came down with a group performance of "Jaye din, Srabon din jaye.”
