SC fines 10 pvt medical colleges

The Supreme Court today fined 10 private medical colleges Tk 1 crore each for admitting 153 candidates who failed to fulfill the relevant requirements in admission tests.

The apex court asked the medical colleges to give half of the fine to Dhaka University and to deposit the rest to National Liver Foundation of Bangladesh and Kidney Foundation Bangladesh in 10 days.

The Appellate Division also ordered the DU authorities to give registration and admit card to the 153 medical students after receiving the fine so that they can appear in their first professional examinations.

The DU authorities were also asked to keep Tk 5 crore as a fixed deposit and to use the interest of the money as stipend for the poor students.
