BNP senior leader Nazrul Islam Khan today slammed the law enforcers for arresting veteran journalist Shafik Rehman in a “dirty trick”.

“Law enforcers can’t arrest anyone in plaincloth. But plainclothes, posing as journalists, picked up Shafik Rehman from his house,” he told at a programme in Dhaka.

All Community Forum organised the programme demanding immediate release of the pro-BNP intellectual who was arrested Saturday for alleged plots to abduct and kill Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Strongly criticising Shafik Rehman’s arrest, Nazrul said, his only “offense” is that he writes truth.
