The whole nation united in prayers today for the life of four-year-old Jihad after he was found in an unconscious state 23 hours after he fell into a deep well shaft in Shahjahanpur of Dhaka.

As little Jihad’s rescue operations played out live in many private news channels, people from all over the country crossed their fingers and prayed for the child so that he comes back alive.

But all their hope shattered when the duty doctors at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital declared him dead after he was taken to the hospital soon after his rescue.

Locals became furious and carried out vandalism in Shahjahanpur area protesting “slow rescue operation” saying that Jihad could have been rescued alive if the rescue operations were conducted sincerely.

Jihad allegedly fell inside the 17-inch diameter shaft, around 40 yards from his house, at about 4:00pm yesterday while playing with other children.
