Rafiqul Islam Bachchu, a Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal leader of Mymensingh, was killed along with his wife and two daughters for Tk 80,000 that he received from his helper to invest in transport sector one year back.

Hafizur Rahman alias Tanu, the helper of a bus owned by Bachchu, disclosed this today after his arrest from Tongi upazila of Gazipur, said Mainul Haque, Mymensingh superintendent of police.

“I gave Tk 80,000 to my boss to investment in transportation sector. He promised me to give a monthly interest.  But later he refused to give the interests as well as the capital,” said Tanu.

“To take revenge, I killed my boss Bachchu. Then I killed her wife and her two daughters,” the SP said quoting Tanu at a press briefing in Mymensingh.

Police also recovered the sharp weapon used in the murder from Bhaluka of Mymensingh today, the police official said.

Earlier, the law enforcers rescued blood-stained clothes and household chores including television looted from Bachchu’s house from Tanu’s in-laws house in Netrakona.

Detectives on December 17 detained six people, including two women, suspecting their involvement in murders.

Bachchu, 35, general secretary of Habirbari union unit of Sramik Dal, his wife Parul Akhtar, 28, and two daughters -- Jiniya Akhtar, 6, and one-year-old Riva Akhtar were found dead at their house in Lobonkotha village in Bhaluka  on December 16.

Bachchu and Parul were stabbed to death while their two daughters were strangled, police and locals said.

Wares Ali, father of Bachchu, filed a case with Bhaluka Police Station.
