Mushfiqur sportsman of 2013

Bangladesh national captain Mushfiqur Rahim received the best sportsman award for the year 2013 at the Grameenphone-Prohtom Alo Sports Awards yesterday.  Off spinner Shohag Gazi and golfer Siddikur Rahman finished second.
Top-order batsman Mominul Haque was adjudged the emerging player of the year.
The first ever captain of the Bangladesh national cricket team, Shamim Kabir, received the life-time achievement award.
Mushfiqur became the first Bangladeshi to score a double-century last year at Galle. He also led Bangladesh to wins against New Zealand and Sri Lanka. Gazi became the first player in Test history to take a hattrick and score a century in the same Test (the first Test against New Zealand). Golfer Siddikur won the prestigious Indian Open last year.
Mominul played a key role in a number of Tests for the Tigers last year. He scored two centuries against New Zealand, both of which came during pressure situations and bailed Bangladesh out of trouble.
