Rejecting his time petition, a Dhaka court today asked senior BNP leader Moudud Ahmed to appear before it by this afternoon in connection with a vandalism case filed under the Speedy Trial Act.

The case was filed against 23 BNP leaders and activists, including Moudud, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Mirza Abbas for torching and vandalising vehicles in Shahjahanpur area in March last year.

Mohsin Mia, a counsel for Moudud, submitted the petition before the court in the morning saying that his client is busy with hearing of a case with the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court. So, he could not appear before it today.

After holding the hearing, Metropolitan Magistrate Tareq Mainul Islam Bhuiyan rejected the petition and asked his lawyer to ensure Moudud’s appearance before the court by 4:00pm today.
