Mother kills kid, takes own life

A woman took her life after allegedly killing her minor daughter over a family feud in Asasuni upazila of the district yesterday.
The deceased are Parvin Khatun, 24, second wife of Bellal Gazi, and her one-and-a-half-year old daughter Rupa Khatun of Uttar Ekshara village.
Md Faruk Hossain, a member of Alunia union parishad, said Bellal married Parvin of Dakope upazila in Khulna district four years ago without the knowledge of his first wife Jahirunnesa.
After one year of their marriage, the feud between Parvin and Jahirunnesa, who used to stay in a rented house in Etagacha area of Satkhira, turned worst.
Bellal used to spend most of his time with Jahirunnesa while Parvin often remained starved or half-fed.
On Monday afternoon, Parvin was beaten up by Bellal as she sought money for buying milk for their kid, said the UP member, also general secretary of Alunia union unit of Awami League.
The following morning, police recovered the hanging bodies of Parvin and her daughter, said Ahsan Habib, officer in-charge of Asasuni Police Station.
The bodies were sent to hospital morgue for autopsy, said the OC, adding that the reason behind the death would be known after getting the autopsy report.  
A case was filed in connection with the incident, he said.
