The Supreme Court today cancelled a High Court order that granted anticipatory bail to BNP leader Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain in a money laundering case.

A five-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Md Muzammel Hossain passed the order after disposing of an appeal filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against the High Court order.

The High Court, on February 10, granted anticipatory bail to Khandaker Mosharraf for six weeks in the case.

Following the apex court order, the ACC can arrest Mosharraf in connection of the case if the commission feels necessary, ACC lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan told The Daily Star.

On February 6, the ACC sued the former health minister for laundering over Tk 9.53 crore to the United Kingdom.

ACC Director Nasim Anwar filed the case with Ramna Police Station stating that the BNP leader amassed the amount between 2001 and 2006 and deposited that with a bank account in the UK.
