Mohajoner Nao to be staged in Kolkata

Subachan Natya Sangsad is set to stage their much-acclaimed production,    “Mohajoner Nao” at the Root Musical Festival in Kolkata. The four-day festival is currently running at Rabindrasadan and Ganendra Pradarshanshala in Kolkata. Subachan will stage their play on August 4, the closing day of the festival declared as Bangladesh Day by the organisers.

“Mohajoner Nao” unravels the life, work and philosophy of Shah Abdul Karim. Written by Shakoor Majid, the play has been directed by Sudip Chakraborty.

Apart from “Mohajoner Nao”, the closing ceremony will feature performances by Bangladeshi artistes. Chandana Mazumdar will sing folk songs on the closing evening, while Baul Fakir Latif Shah will render Lalon songs. A 21-member delegation from Bangladesh has already reached Kolkata to take part in the festival.    

Bangladesh Evening has been jointly arranged by the Cultural Affairs Ministry of Bangladesh and the Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh in Kolkata. In addition to Bangladeshi artistes, popular Indian artistes Kailash Kher, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Lopamudra Mitra, Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumdar, Srikanta Acharya and many others will be present at the programme.
