Intern doctors of Mitford Hospital called off their work abstention programme and returned to duties this evening.

They took the decision after a 'fruitful' meeting with local lawmaker and hospital authorities.

The intern doctors observed strike for the third consecutive day today demanding withdrawal of a case filed by Ekushey Television (ETV).

The interns went for the wildcat work abstention programme Monday hours after the authorities of ETV, a private satellite TV channel, sued the director and four interns of the hospital on charges of assaulting its reporters and videographers.

On Saturday evening, interns at the hospital allegedly beat up three reporters and three videographers of ETV when they went there to report on alleged negligence of doctors.

They also confined the journalists to the director's room for several hours.
