Miscreants beat B'baria election officer

Unidentified miscreants severely beat up the election officer of Brahmanbaria this afternoon.

Injured Belayet Hossain, the district election officer, was admitted to Brahmanbaria General Hospital with severe head injuries.

A group of seven to eight people went to the election office and asked Balayet to enlist some names in the voter list around 1:15pm, said Akul Chandra Biswas, officer-in-charge (OC) of Brahmanbaria Police Station.

As the officer asked them to contact the Dhaka headquarters of the election commission since the date of updating voter list had expired, they beat up him with bamboo sticks in his office, the OC told our Brahmanbaria correspondent.

The criminals also beat up one of his office assistant at that moment left the office immediately, he added.
