Meher Afroz assures women entrepreneurs of all-out help
State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki has assured women entrepreneurs of all possible assistance to promote cross border trade and entrepreneurship.
The assurance came when a delegation of Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka, led by Rokia Afzal Rahman, president of the Bangladesh Federation of Women Entrepreneurs and Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, met her on Thursday, says a press release.
Organisations from the three countries are involved in South Asia Women's Entrepreneurship Develop-ment Project recently launched in Sri Lanka.
The team briefed the state minister on market access and trade for women entrepreneurs, promote policy and regulatory environment which supports women's entrepreneurship, information sharing and networking to promote business linkages and trade and capacity building and business skills development.
The Asia Foundation with support from the US Department of State, the Bureau of South and Central Asia is implementing the strategies of South Asia Women's Entrepreneurship Symposium (SAWES).
The project will advance the New Silk Road Initiative, which aims to build regional economic integration and trade across South and Central Asia through development and implementation of an effective SAWES follow-on strategy that advances priority areas identified.
The delegation also met Nazneen Sultana, deputy governor, Bangladesh Bank; Hedayetullah Al Mamoon, secretary, the Ministry of Commerce; and MD and officials of SME Foundation.
The issues discussed in the meeting included credit, technology, marketing and export promotion on that the three partner countries are working closely.
