Maritime ports asked to hoist Signal 3

The country’s four maritime ports have been asked to hoist local cautionary signal No. three as a deep convection is taking place over the North Bay of Bengal.

Squally weather may affect North Bay, adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh and the four maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra, according to a Met office bulletin.

The bulletin said due to active monsoon over Bangladesh  heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal , Chittagong  and Sylhet divisions during next 24 hrs commencing 11:00am today.    

Under the influence of heavy to very heavy rainfall landslide may occur at places over the hilly regions of Chittagong and Sylhet divisions.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
