Bangladesh Meteorological Department asked the maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Mongla to hoist local cautionary signal number three today as a monsoon depression formed over northwestern Bay.

All fishing boats and trawlers over north Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice, said SM Mahmudul Haque, assistant director of the Met office in Dhaka.

The three maritime ports have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three as the low may cause strong waves over the north Bay and its adjoining areas of Bangladesh, the officer added.
