Manmohan congratulates Hasina

Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh telephoned Sheikh Hasina this evening and congratulated her on her assuming the office of prime minister of Bangladesh.

“Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh sent a message of felicitations to Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh, and also called her on the telephone this evening to convey his good wishes to her on assumption of the office of prime minister after the recent elections in Bangladesh,” said a press release of Indian high commission in Dhaka.

“He wished her and the people of Bangladesh all success in the endeavour to strengthen democratic institutions in Bangladesh,” the press release added.

Manmohan sing is the first head of government to congratulate Hasina.
