Man killed in Demra car plunge

A man was killed when an out-of-control car plunged into a ditch at Demra in the capital city of Dhaka this evening.

The deceased was identified as Nurul Islam, 35, a resident of Wari in the city and a motor parts trader at Jatrabari.

Haider Ali, assistant sub-inspector at Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp, told The Daily Star that Nurul was driving the vehicle towards Mirpur to visit an ailing relative.

The accident took place around 6:00pm near Kajla bridge after Nurul lost control over the steering of the vehicle.

Locals rescued Nurul in an unconscious condition and rushed to DMCH where doctors pronounced him dead.

His three friends traveling in the car were rescued unhurt.
