Detainee Rafiqul Islam, 31, hailed from Monohardi upazila of Narsingdi, is a part-time teacher of a coaching centre located at Chandana intersection in Joydevpur, reports our district correspondent.

A helper and a driver of a pickup van caught Rafiqul around 7:00am when he tried to shift the body of his wife Najmunnahar Begum, 24, hiding in a carton by the van.

Rafiqul might have strangled his wife, said advocate Shamim Hossain Bhuiyan, owner of the house which the detainee rented six months’ back.

The husband informed Shamim last month that he will stay in the house till October.

While loading the truck with the furniture, van helper Tanjin felt something was wrong after he saw a carton, which Rafiqul denied to open in front of him.
