Man detained with 29 turtles in Patuakhali

Rapid Action Battalion has arrested a man along with 29 turtles from a bus on Patuakhali-Kuakata highway in Patuakhali last night.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Rab-8 arrested Suklal Biswas (35) from a Jessore-bound passenger bus in front of the Patuakhali Chowrasta traffic box around 8:30pm yesterday, said Md Rabiul Islam, acting company commander of Rab-8.

A total of 29 turtles were recovered from him, our Patuakhali correspondent reports quoting the Rab official.

During the primary interrogation, Suklal confessed that he has been involved in the turtle business for a long time, the Rab official said.

Suklal, hailing from Machukhali village in Kalapara upazila, was later handed over to Patuakhali Sadar Police Station along with the rescued turtles.

A case has been filed with the police station in this regard, he said.
