Make pvt universities genuine learning place

President tells UU convocation

President Abdul Hamid today urged all to work together to make private universities a genuine place for learning.

Educational institutions should not only focus on making profits, he said at the third convocation of Uttara University.

Prime Minister's Energy Adviser Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury and Vice-Chancellor of Uttara University Prof Dr M Azizur Rahman also spoke. Chairman of the University Grants Commission Dr AK Azad Chowdhury was the convocation speaker.

The president asked the private universities to offer more facilities, including scholarships, to meritorious students from poor families.

He also thanked the Uttara University authorities for providing poor and meritorious students with an opportunity to study for free.

Congratulating the graduates, Abdul Hamid advised them to work for the nation and also urged the university teachers to engage themselves in researches, which play a important role in fulfilling existing demands of the society.
