Mahadev Saha's birthday celebrated

Marking the 70th birth anniversary of poet Mahadev Saha, a programme was held at Green Leaf auditorium in the town on Tuesday.

The programme included a discussion, poetry recitation session and placing of floral wreaths at the portrait of the poet and more. Mymensingh Sahitya Sangsad organised the programme.

Prof. Afzal Rahman of Govt. Ananda Mohan College's Bengali Department; writer Al Maqsud; Mosharraf Karim, Farid Ahmed Dulal, Prof. Ali Idris and poet Swadhin Chowdhury discussed on the life and works of the poet. Poet Shamsul Fayez presided over the session.

Recitation of poems of Mahadev Saha also amused the packed auditorium.

Poets Yeazdani Koraishi Kajol, Amjad Dulon, Hasan Masud, Reza Masum, Sajal Koraishi, Tapoti Chakraborty, Hasan Masum, and Lima Laizu took part in poetry recitation.

Earlier, a discussion was held attended by poets, writers, journalists and academics.

Mahadev Saha, a bright star in the country's literary arena, has exceeded 50 years of his writing career, enriching Bangla literature in different forms, said the speakers. All sections of people are readers of Mahadev Saha, as he has depicted the love, agony and expressions of the common people in his writings, the speakers said.

The poet's devotion for Independence and Liberation War was also depicted in his writings, added the speakers.
