"The best advice that was given to me was that I had to be 10 times smarter, braver and more polite to be equal. So I did.
I hope Obama gets scary in the next four years, 'cuz he ain't gotta worry about getting re-elected.
I get paid all day, every day, which is almost too much for a sensitive artist.

1 MINUTE PLEASE!

While the city is in for a facelift for the upcoming T20 world Cup and concrete walls with ugly looking bathroom tiles have been set up in the name of beautification, Architect Abu Sayeed M Ahmed believes that there is no alternative to greenery to enhance the scenic value of Dhaka city. One of the most influential architects of our country, Dr Sayeed advocates landscaping and green architecture over everything else. He is President of the Institute of Architects, Bangladesh and head of the Department of Architecture at the University of Asia Pacific.

If you could change one thing about Dhaka city
Instead of using any motorised vehicle, around 60 percent of the population in Dhaka prefer walking as a mode of transport. If I could change one thing, I would change our existing sidewalks and provide safe, well-maintained and wide sidewalks for them.
Most significant achievement of your life
I am working on preserving our Bangladeshi heritage sites. I would deem this opportunity of doing something for my country as the most significant achievement of my life.
When you first knew that you would be an architect
My father always had an affinity for technical drawing, and that influenced me as well. Watching these drawings I realised that I wanted to be an architect. Moreover, after my intermediate exam, I had to make a small scale model of the Comilla Zilla Parishad in a trade fair in Comilla. Since then I was determined to be an architect.
