Bangla Academy Sahitya Puroshkar 2016 announced

The "Bangla Academy Sahitya Puroshkar 2016" was announced today in seven categories ahead of the 'Amar Ekushey Boi Mela'.

Prof Shamsuzzaman Khan, director general of Bangla Academy, made the announcement at a press conference on the academy premises this afternoon.

Poet Abu Hasan Shahriar won in the category of poetry, Shahaduz Zaman in fiction, writer Morshed Shafiul Hasan in essay and research, Dr Niaz Zaman in translation, freedom fighter and human rights activist Dr MA Hasan in Literature on the Liberation War, Noorjahan Bose in autobiography/ memoir and Rashed Rauf on children's literature.

The awardees will receive the prestigious prize from Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, during the inauguration of the 'Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2017', the Bangla Academy DG said.
