FLAMING ACOUSTICS: AN EVENING OF CLASSICAL GUITAR

'Flaming Acoustics' is the name of an instrumental ensemble directed by Iftekhar Anwar. Come December 9 at Alliance Française Auditorium Nouvelle Vague, the ensemble will perform eight different and exclusive renderings of Western classical music, which include pieces by venerable composers like Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, Frédéric Chopin, Claude Debussy, et al. The performances will feature classical guitar, flute and violin. Each concert will last for an hour and the pieces will comprise solos, duets and trios. Pramit Kishore Choudhury will play the guitar, Md. Akash will be on the flute and Suchorit Shuvanon Rahman will play the violin.

FILM SHOW: TRIBUTE TO JEANNE MOREAU (1928-2017)

legend in French new wave cinema, a cultural icon, Jeanne Moreau was a symbol of an era.

Moreau made her stage debut at the age of 19 at the Avignon Festival. In 1962, 'New Wave' director François Truffaut cast her in 'Jules et Jim,'s which earned her international success.

She would go on to work with some of the finest filmmakers in cinema like Louis Malle, Jean-Luc Godard, Michelangelo Antonioni, Orson Welles, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, and Luis Buñuel, among others.

Her career spanned seven decades and nearly 150 film and TV roles, establishing her as the thinking man's femme fatale. As a matter of fact, Orson Welles once called Moreau 'the greatest actress in the world.'

To pay homage to this legendary French actress, Alliance Française will screen three of her films in its Auditorium Nouvelle Vague.
