Anamika means a 'nameless lady.' It is a concept tying humans and deities, but in this case the symbolism of mermaids has been used for the portrayal of the character of the 'lady of the dreams'. Anamika Sagorkonna is a depiction of different perceptions of women by literary legends like Jibanananda Das, Kazi Nazrul Islam, and Rabindranath Tagore.

Reflections by Lubna Charya: a painting

Lubna Charya calls herself a non-academic artist. Painting is her passion; her way of dreaming; the agency to express herself. She paints her thoughts, her imaginations and the philosophy she has been forging all her life. Her watercolours represent pastoral lives, urban life, flora and other subjects. 

In this exhibition she will display some of her recent works. Just as in real-life reflections are seen on the surface of water or glass, Charya establishes a strong bond between her watercolours and the imagery they portray.

Tayabuzzaman Topu

Artist Tayabuzzaman Topu, through his terra-cotta art, expresses a wonderful blend of history and modernisation. His artwork spans household items to exterior decorations for buildings, each with a story to convey. Not only does he engage himself, he spreads the skill to others with immense enthusiasm, through trainings and workshops. Moreover, he carried out a clay workshop with underprivileged youth from Dhaka and beyond, and engaged them throughout the course of a month. They were given basic training about handling and processing clay and up to creating a final product with their own creativity. 

The artist finds it extremely crucial to value every piece of art that comes from passion. In that regard, he has decided to display his artwork as part of his own exhibition at EMK.

Next Dhaka: Two Visions of the City

Dedicated to rethinking the future of Bangladesh's urban living, Bengal Institute for Architecture, Landscapes and Settlements is involved in investigating and producing alternative visions for a better, livable and brighter Dhaka. To demonstrate how this metropolis can be transformed into a city of civic, social and ecological well-being, Bengal Institute will present an exhibition presenting its visions on two critical areas: Buriganga Riverbank and Gulshan-Karwan Bazaar Civic Corridor.
