Flamenco and Jazz with Parijat Moumon & Kaartik

Born into a family of musicians of Bangladesh, Parijat Moumon is a guitarist and composer, now based in Germany. His fascination for Flemenco led him to study under virtuoso guitarist Paco Peña in the Codarts, Conservatory of Rotterdam, Netherlands. Later, he developed a keen interest in jazz. Moumon is now studying jazz guitar at the Hochschule für Musik Mainz, Germany.

Kaartik, a multi-instrumentalist from Bangladesh, is best known as lead guitarist of the ground-breaking folk-rock band, 'Bangla'. He pursued a diploma in Music Performance at Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music, India and upon returning to Bangladesh, he started the contemporary music project titled Kaartikz Ensemble, and also joined the legendary funk rock band, Renaissance, as the bass player.

A group exhibition titled 'Adherence' will be organised at Alliance Française de Dhaka's Galerie Zoom, from 2 August to 9 August.

The participating artists are Bappy Linkon Roy, Iqbal Bahar Chy, Kuntal Barai, Mahabub Alam, Nabaraj Roy, Nabila Nabi, Nasrin Jahan Onika, Pervaj Hasan Rigan, Pritam Pitu, Prodip Shaha, Raijn Mustafa Dipraw, S M Ehsan, Sajia Rahman Sondha, Sharmin Akter Lina, and Zakia Afrose.

Shuttle Train movie

Venue: EMK Center, Midas Center Building, (9th Floor) House #5, Road #16, Dhanmondi

Shuttle Train, is the first crowd funded full length feature film based on the University of Chittagong. The film is directed by Pradeeb Ghosh, and based on 'Bohe Somantoral' a novel focusing on the university.

All the actors in the film are either current, or former students of the university. Notable characters have been played by Imran Hossain, Indrani Ghatak, Sadia Afroz, Dharmaraj Tanchanga, and Annesha Mazumdar.
