Debashis Chakma's international transition

You may have known him for his high fashion indigenous clothing line by the name of Debashis Nabagata Design Studio. Now residing in India, this highly talented fashion designer has not forgotten his patriotism towards Bangladesh, as he always strives to work such that one way or the other, it benefits his motherland.

After captivating Bangladesh's fashion scene with his unique, unorthodox, artistic designer wear, Debashis ventured on a new journey to India in 2011 to explore their world of style and fashion.

He moved to India for research, and decided to stay there permanently. In 2013, he shifted to India's fashion hub, Delhi and started working in the high fashion industry.

"Working in an unknown country was very difficult at first. I faced many obstacles, of which one of the biggest was the language barrier. Overcoming it was nothing but a mountain of a task," Debashis said, when asked about his transition from Bangladesh to India.

He further elaborated that terminologies are different to what is used in Bangladesh and in India's professional fields of fashion. However, with time and his prior experience of working in Bangladesh's fashion scene, he soon overcame this obstacle and with time started his climb of the ladder to success.

"I had wanted to test myself to the limit. Since I was now successful in Bangladesh, I had wanted to explore further and see how far I can go," the talented fashion designer said, discussing about the goals he had in moving to India.

"Moreover, I had always had a dream, to someday make a name for myself in Bollywood's fashion industry," Debashis further added.

When asked about how he was received in India, he said with a big smile that Bangladeshis are sought after in India's world of fashion as they are regarded as talented, creative and hard working.

In 2015, he started his own clothing line in India by the name of Debashis Chakma in one of the most popular stores --Parampara -- in Delhi. His high fashion clothing line for women has a wide range including bridal wear, Hindu western, and western.

Through his creativity, genius and unabated struggle, he was able to create a niche for himself to become a much sought after name in the fashion world.

With plans of continuing his clothing line, Debashis will be launching his very own home furnishing designer collection in the coming months.

The fire of love and passion for his motherland, Bangladesh, still burns bright in his heart as he looks forward to making a comeback to Bangladesh with a designer collection for men by the end of this year.

You can safely say that with resilience, tenacity and a little bit of luck, no mountain is too high to climb, Debashis stands in testimony to that.
