COLOUR ME WISELY

Whether you like it or not, 2017 is the year for unconventional colours. Enter: Blonde Balyage, Tiger's Eye, Colombre Combinations, Galaxy Highlights, Cotton Candy Colours, Platinum Blonde, Pastel Shades, Two a Tone, and so much more. Clever use of these colours not only radically changes the look, but combined with ultra-modern cutting technique also gives out a lustrous appearance and dynamism. So we say for 2017, get some angles in your hair!

LOST IN THE GALAXY

Get the best of the constellation

We may never be able to make it to Mars or Pluto but we can surely capture the ethereal beauty of these beautiful planets by dyeing our hair in jewel tones like blue, purple, turquoise, red, green and even yellow.

Expert Opinion:

How it is done

"First the natural colour is stripped off with bleach and then each colour is carefully applied, blending them into each other" says the expert hairdresser Sabikun Nahar from Hairbar Bangladesh.

"This is a multi-tonal hair colour particularly preferred by the ladies in their early 20s; but I'd suggest it for anyone looking for an 'out of the world look', which is both courageous and edgy at one go," she opined.

PAINT ME THE BALAYAGE WAY

Trending French Technique

Expert Opinion: How it is done

The major benefit of this technique is to create dimensions in the hair by painting it instead of using the foil or the cap method. The subtle balayage highlights is a modern technique to colouring that is an exquisite complement but not an overshadowing attraction. The balayage helps gives out soft, natural looking highlights that do not overpower our looks.

"If you are a brunette, I would suggest medium-toned brown balayage hair. This colour looks especially beautiful on medium length hairs with a slightly wavy texture. Caramel tones also look lusciously well for the Bangladeshi ladies since most of us have a warm skin tones," says Nahar.

Upkeep of the galaxy

The maintenance technique is strenuous and extremely demanding with regular touch-ups so the colours do not fade.  However, 'just one look' at the pictures of galaxy highlights on Pinterest or Instagram will transform you directly to the extraterrestrial life beyond our comprehension and make the 'makeover' totally worth the commitment!

OMBRE CHIC

Transition from light to dark

Expert Opinion: How it is done

Ombre is a colour blocking style where no dark strands are left at the bottom. It is definitely suitable for daring girls. Those who want subtlety can opt for sombre, instead. Yes, 'S' from subtle! So it is Sombre!

This styling technique is very difficult and needs to be prepared by expert hands, otherwise it may just look faded and burnt out.

Alternative to the Bold Styling

If you are thinking bold highlights would never be accepted by your BOSS at the office, then there is another amazing solution with hidden hair colour technique, where the highlights are only revealed in updos and braids.

Upkeep of the Balayage

Most people are drawn to this technique because the maintenance is very low key. Most can go four to five months between each colour treatment. This is a technique that is evidently trending and is also soft on the hair.

Upkeep of the ombre

Just like the galaxy highlight, the ombre also requires high maintenance so that the colours do not fade easily. The transition of colours between the top portion of the hair and the bottom must be aligned perfectly so that they look as natural as possible.
