When you are dressing to express patriotism, always remember — less is more. You cannot possibly go wrong with a basic white or black T-shirt, with the flag printed on the back. But you can also be on fleek by adding a splash of colour on your nudes, blacks or whites.

For girls, consider wearing plain black t-shirts and trousers. Add an oomph factor with a bright green belt over the t-shirt on the smallest part of your waist. Take this look a notch further by adding a bag or shoes in the same hue. This look is sure to catch one's eye. 

If your personality craves more flair, accentuate your look by adding a green shawl or Muslin sash and tuck it in through the belt at your waist. This is a fusion look perfect for a day out. This look can be carried out in either red or green.

For men out there, follow the same colour scheme. Apart from a shawl, you can add a scarf around your neck for the same feel. You are lucky the temperature is always cool this time of the year so you will not end up looking like an alien.

Jeans are a staple in every modern wardrobe for both men and women. It is the most versatile of garments as you can play it up or down, depending on the time of day, your mood or occasion. To bring in that oomph factor, women can add a tote representing the colours of the flag, and men can dial it up, literally, by choosing the right watch.

Even with everyday wear, you can easily display your patriotic fervour with accessories, and nothing speaks louder actually. Add on a pair of dangling earrings, a chic choker, a ring or bangles; it's really that simple. Even a bright red 'teep' on your forehead will do the trick. The key is – do not wear all at once or you will end up looking like a hot mess.

For men, the most prominent ways of achieving this look is with belts, shoes and watches. If executed well, a scarf at most. 

HOME VIBES

Why limit dressing up to yourself, when you can bring the feel of the month to your home as well. Add bright green table mats, cushions or even a rug to make a statement. After all, the understanding of patriotism and love for your country begins at home. Parents will have the perfect opportunity to make children remember this time of year with awe and respect.

CARS

A very simple yet a strong method to show your love for the flag is to tie one to your car's aerial on that day. Just make sure it is small and does not obstruct the driver's view or pose a safety threat.
