Taking a leaf out of nature

“Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.” ― Albert Camus

After the transitions from the crazy heat of summer and the storms and the drizzles of monsoon, nature seems to relax in autumn. It is that time of the year when we sit back and reflect on things that are taken-for-granted like trees and leaves.

Flowers are beautiful with the various colours and shades they offer, but the mere touch of the pristine shades of green can be magical too, as it soothes with its calmness and serenity.

It brings forth peace and tranquility in the chaos of our daily lives, but gone are the days where leaves are only displayed as plants on pots. With the variety of its beauty in terms of its artistic patterns, leaves can be interestingly and creatively used as a piece of art.

Be it original leaves, faux or just print, bring nature to your house by adding leaves to the prints and making your walls, corners, and even your attires majestic and artistic.

Wear the leaves
Printed pants are in trend and so you can dare to experiment with leaf-printed pants, or even tops. You can also go 'deshi' with a leaf printed sari. The diverse shades of green or rust can compliment a lot of bold colours to suit your mood and the weather.

Windows and walls
Wallpapers are fashionable and add life to the room, and leaves like aralias, fern, century, etc. are a popular choice nowadays as a wallpaper print. You can also paint your walls with the theme of leaves with Berger Illusion. Leaves can also be displayed in frames on the walls, as they are no less of an art.

Covers
Sofas can be covered with green leaf-patterned fabrics to go with the wooden brown furniture. Or you can also try out bold green shades for cushion covers to strike out in a pastel-themed drawing room or living space.

Corners and centres
Plants on pots are outdated and they can only be kept in balconies and terraces, but to add it to your home décor use clear or ceramic vases that not only acts as a showpiece on its own but also highlights the plant.

You can also place them near the window sills so that the sunlight can reflect on the leaves and give a relaxing environment similar to the beach. Tiny dwarf plants are sold even in departmental stores. Decorate your center table or corner table with candles draped in leaves.

Pretty petals
Let's face it…it is difficult to find flowers on trees and cherish the blossoming beauty with our hectic lifestyle. Having to leave early in the morning for work and returning late at night, we can only enjoy the freshness and splendour if we get a flower from a loved one, but why rely on that? So add flowers to your interior décor and make your house and life colourful. Experiment with the apricot, mint and peach hues for the breathtaking subtlety.
