Women Culinary Association of Bangladesh celebrates 10th anniversary

The Women Culinary Association of Bangladesh arranged 'Epar Opar Bangla', a culinary workshop to celebrate its 10th anniversary on 28 May, 2023 at Uttara Ladies Club, Dhaka. The workshop was attended by members of the association and food enthusiasts from all around Bangladesh, to experience the nuances of culinary practices.

Prominent culinary experts and food personalities from India including Ruma Dakhsy, Subajit Bhattacharyya, Punchaly Dutta, Amit Ghosh Dastidar, and Rongon Neogy led the day-long workshop by sharing their love for the Indian cuisine, how the recipes of the delicious food came to be, and their take on the historical and cultural significance of the traditional dishes.

The workshop allowed its participants to experience gustatory delights first-hand from prominent cooks, learn about their process of cooking, and give them a unique opportunity to get to know about the amazing culinary heritage that is found, and quite similar in both Bangladesh and India. While the cuisines of both countries can be largely similar, there are subtle differences in dishes to places that make them unique, and the workshop highlighted these characteristics between the cuisines.

Since the inception of the Women Culinary Association of Bangladesh, it has played a big part in supporting women's empowerment through various initiatives like culinary training and educating over 1,000 women.  Workshops like these are yet another opportunity for the organisation to showcase their commitment towards women's empowerment.

Jinnatul Bakia MP was the chief guest at the event. Nazma Huda, Founder and President, the Women Culinary Association of Bangladesh moderated the event. The Daily Shokaler Shomoy was the media partner.

Along with the workshop, the association also published a magazine that celebrated the delectable traditional Bangladeshi cuisines. The cover was unveiled at the event.
