Timeless Time: An exhibition showcasing artistic watches underway at Gallery Qrius

Lifestyle brand Qrius has implemented a novel idea of watches by coming up with artistic rendition of everyday watches that also presents a surreal vibe. This resulted in an exhibition titled 'Timeless Time,' curated by Qrius and in association with HSBC Bangladesh, which features a total of 50 watches, each with its own unique storytelling and design elements.

Time pieces have somewhat lost their past glory, when it wasn't only part of everyday life, but also be a symbol of prestige, from the old grandfather clocks to the classic wrist watches. With the advent of technology, especially with mobile phones, watches have stopped becoming the only device that can tell us time.

These clocks are not mere time measuring devices however, but works of art. Each is the embodiment of a thoughtful clarity. The faces of the watches are elaborated using various textural decorative mediums. There are handicrafts like embroidery and other sewing, screen printing and wood carving.

The watches have also been given splendid names with descriptions that perfectly summarize the identity of the time piece. For example, in the time piece titled 'Theory of Natural Bounties,' you can see continuous artistic scribbling that can be felt from the frames where the unity of art and nature is signified. Time pieces like 'The Urban Time,' 'Signature of Civilization' and the other watches each tell its own story that will captivate the audience.

The use of various materials also deserves mention. Materials such as wood, leather, and cloth have been used. Every machine is imported. Most of these watches are made one at a time. It goes without saying that each watch is unique as a gift. In addition to keeping track of time, any of this collection of clocks can beautify your home.

The exhibition was inaugurated on 26 October by Mahbub ur Rahman, the Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Bank, Bangladesh, and Dekko Legacy Group Chairman, M Shahadat Hossain Kiran. The exhibition will be open to all from 10AM to 8PM daily till 15 November.
