Home Decor

Imbue your interiors with elegance this Eid

What a wonderful time of the year it is right now! The blessed Ramadan has brought us the opportunity to get closer to Allah yet again, and we couldn’t be more grateful. With anxious anticipation, we are awaiting the Eid day, and preparations for it are in full swing to make sure everything is perfect for the big day! By now, Eid outfits and most of the work is sorted; home decor is where all attention should now be.

Eid is a celebration of life and friendship, and our homes are where our hearts are. Setting the tone at home for good times enhances the spirit of wellbeing like nothing else. The aroma of fresh flowers and scented candles, the twinkle of gold cutlery and sparkle of crystal vases are some of the little things that make Eid day so special! Your home deserves to look exceptional for the festivities, so read on for exciting ideas and tips!

Let’s start with the basics; tweaking the upholstery or changing some furniture pieces is key to achieving a new look, instead of changing everything.

An interesting new piece that you have been eyeing for a while can be a wonderful new addition. Marble is enjoying a great time in the spotlight right now; starting from furniture to crockeries, it’s being used in the best possible ways. A coffee table with a marble top, or a console in the lobby will elevate your existing setup marvellously. Add a crystal vase with some hydrangeas or lilies for a dash of charm. Domed chairs are back in vogue and look very chic. Pick one with a whimsical printed upholstery or a solid coloured one.

A new dinner wagon or a mirrored chest looks splendid and really uplifts a basic dining room.

Let’s move on to details. There’s so much one can do with clever additions to really change a space. For instance, spruce up your shoe closet with a mirror on top of it. Place a beautiful runner with a couple of framed pictures and a gold bowl, or place a sequined throw on a basic couch or divan diagonally, and add some cushions in contrasting colours. Add a marble tray to a centre table and a small golden vase with succulents. Keep an eye out for trendy items and incorporate them, changing up things every once in a while.

In terms of table décor, there’s so much one can do. Eid vibe in Dhaka is always joyous, with a touch of glamour. Picking a theme that best reflects your style sense is a good idea. Eid is in the thick of summer this year, so sticking to pastel colour schemes is a good idea. Soothing and refreshing, it’s bound to make your Eid gatherings calm. Colours like sea-foam green, lemon and sage look beautiful against an ivory backdrop. Placemats in these colours will look vibrant. Choose an interesting centrepiece. You can buy it or fashion it from your existing collection of knick-knacks. Add other accents such as silver cutlery, crystal glasses, napkin holders and place-card holders. Lastly, add fresh flower arrangements generously all over the house. Nothing brings more beauty than flowers. With these ideas your Eid at home is bound to be splendid!
