Charcuterie, or cheese boards for Eid

Eid is just around the corner and we can already feel its vivacity in the air. With just a few days left to prepare for the festive season, here’s a great idea to impress your family in a simple yet creative manner, through charcuterie boards!

Charcuterie, or cheese boards, comprise a medley of delicious flavours and textures that pair well together. Its assemblage of elements that includes everything from sweet to savoury, crunchy and soft, fresh or cold — absolutely whatever your heart desires. Not only that, it is also a fun project where you can flaunt your presentation skills!

For a classic charcuterie board, it is preferable to opt for a wooden backdrop, as this adds a rustic vibe and contrasts well with the myriad ingredients placed atop. The primary element of a cheese board is – obviously cheese! Make your selection to include various textures and shapes such as cheese spread, cheese slices, cheese cubes, and our very own "deshi poneer."

For protein, there exists a bounty of cured meats to choose from. Salami, mortadella, pepperoni and pastrami are just to name a few. Display your decorative abilities by rolling them into cigars or folding them into a flower. Pair these with crackers — sweet or savoury it's your call, and tuck them in like a deck of cards for a prettier presentation.

Sweeten up your cheese board by throwing in an array of fresh and colourful fruits – berries and grapes are essentials. Lastly, throw in some accoutrements to fill any empty pockets, such as nuts, raisins, dried fruits, and olives for the final touch.

This snack board shall definitely be the showstopper of your Eid menu. Have fun creating this exquisite platter that takes minimal time and no prep at all, to munch on during your evening soirees with the family. Eid Mubarak!
