Khazana comes to Uttara

Khazana, the renowned restaurant that has been one of the biggest names in the business, inaugurated their new Uttara branch on 8 October. Specialising in traditional Indian cuisine, Khazana promises to tantalise your taste buds with their brand new branch.

As you walk in you can almost taste their famous butter chicken, the scent of which wafts through the air before. The menu offers an array of other dishes like paneer tikka, mutton biryani and more.

Among desserts they have gulab jamun, kulfi, etc. Of course, do not forget to wash down the delicious meal with their juices, lassis and several other cold drinks.

The beautiful interiors done by Maheen Khan and the paintings hanging on the walls are enough to send you on a journey into ancient India. For a moment it's almost enough to make you feel like a zamindar.

The new branch differs slightly from its Gulshan counterpart. The prices have been reduced by 20-25 percent to appeal more to the younger crowd who are less likely to pay extravagant amounts of money. Each person can have a fulfilling meal with about Tk700-1000. Another new addition is the Muglai cuisine, which will be available only in Uttara. Each dish officially serves one person.

I say officially because in reality the portions are good enough for three. Keeping in tune with their focus on the younger generation, each wall is decorated with paintings from up and coming artists, each of them at very affordable prices. Customers can just pick out a painting and take it home with them. Cosmos Gallery is providing Khazana with the paintings.

Avishek Sinha, Director of Operations of Khazana, stresses the importance of hygiene and high quality food. "If you were to walk into most kitchens, you'd never want to eat again. But in Khazana the kitchen is open. You can even watch them cook from the pavement outside," he speaks into the microphone. "Every ingredient is bought from the India, including the Marico Saffola Oil and Kohinoor rice. Even the chefs are expats who have worked extensively in India to ensure the most authentic Indian experience."

Sinha prides himself on his portions and mentions that considering the price the amounts served are more than enough. "Five pieces of mutton in a biryani for each person" he claims.

Offers such as complimentary drinks and chef special desserts are always available. Just check the Khazana web pages to keep up to date. Food festivals are an upcoming occasion while in the future Sinha hopes to open a chai bar.
