Imagine this - your tiny red car sits crammed in the traffic of Kakoli signal and you are sitting in the driver's seat, slowly wiping off every drop of sweat on your forehead. You are tired of pointless honking and seriously considering kicking your car door open and running out.
But hold on to your harness right there, sit back and rethink on that one simple decision you could have made an hour ago, when you had the opportunity to bring along that chilled bottle of lemonade!
Summer drinks not only quench your thirst but also works in replenishing electrolytes lost from the body. While it may not be possible for us to carry that bottle of drink everywhere we go, one can relish the best of summer drinks that different stores have on offer.
Here is a short, but certainly not exhaustive, list.
Cold coffee
If you have been to Bashundhara Residential Area and not tried Mama Coffee's Cold Coffee, you have missed out one of life's precious gifts.
Located behind Apollo Hospital, the place with the narrow, craterous street may seem forbidding. But given that the treat that awaits you, these may all seem too trivial,
Served in a transparent plastic cup, wrapped with paper napkins, this Tk 45 drink will make you fall in love with coffee all over again.
As you sip the icy drink, you will feel the chill explode in your mouth but the zillion nerve signals will calm you down, almost into a state of trance. It's not just a drink; it's therapy!
Pink punch
Imagine sitting on a cushioned, concrete bench. Your hair caressed by the gentle breeze blowing through the smartly located vents.
The heavy rain drenches the street and you can smell the fragrance of wet earth taking you back to the tranquillity of the country side.
Right then, a drink poured in a uniquely shaped glass jar is served to you. The pastel pink colour of the refreshment tones down the boiling heat of the summer you are experiencing.
Just as the name suggests, you will be greeted with a fruity, pleasant punch of refreshing strawberry syrup. Not too cold and not too sugary, this drink hits the bull's-eye with its perfection. It holds the essence of summer and caters to our undying need for a reenergising, delicious drink.

Lassi legendary
The most popular lassi is at Nurani Cold Drink. Established more than 60 years ago, the small shop in Chawk Bazaar has mastered the art of making lassi.
With ice, curd and other ingredients on the glass, a man blends the mixture with a spoon and his rapid wrist-work. Finally, with high speed and unbelievable accuracy, he pours the lassi to and fro between the glass and a cup, several times, with not even a drop of liquid wasted on the floor.
The final product is a charming glass of lassi, possibly the best you will ever have.
Pineapple soda float
Slightly pricey but totally worth the money; it is the perfect nutrient rich juice. Served at numerous shops of the 'Just Juice' franchise, at Tk 180, it goes highly recommended.
Take a seat outside Just Juice, go for a walk down the streets, or simply drink and drive – irrespective what you chose to do, make sure you took a shot at the float.
Summer can test you to the limit. If you are not anywhere close to those stores, simply dial FoodPanda or HungryNaki. Sometimes a good drink can shape your day from not so good to something incredible!
