The season of dazzling shoes

'Tis the wedding season and we are all thankful for it. This means a whole lot of merriment, dressing up, and attending gorgeous parties. While our clothes are all readied, dry-washed, and sparkling, we are slightly confused about the accessories — of which the prime concern, maybe, is the shoe.

No longer are boring shoes acceptable, because everyone knows that after the clothes, the most noticeable item of style are the shoes,  followed by clutches. So, if you thought you would just slip on your regular heels because they would be hidden beneath the saris or the lehenga, then you are being naïve.

Fashionistas in our subcontinent swear by the fact that a peeping stiletto, beneath the border of a sari is much more eye-catching than the false lashes or a well-contoured face. To simplify matters, there is simply no chance to 'defer' in this department.

Now that you know shoes are as important as the wardrobe for any wedding, you must be wondering about your options, and certainly Fashion Police never disappoints in giving style suggestions.

Rule # 1 — Shoes without any sort of detailing are out of style. Nowadays, stores like Apex provide you with comfort and style coupled in perfect harmony. That means you can get comfortable with block heeled shoes paired with backstraps and cushioned footbeds. Fancy wedge heels are also widely available for those who prefer a balanced stroll.

Rule # 2 — Stilettos are not the only thing fashionable at the moment. Learn to experiment with new designs like the jutti, khussa, and ballerina shoes. These provide an essential ethnic appeal that is unparalleled.

Rule # 3 — Plain shoes are acceptable only if there's detailing elsewhere. If you want to up your fashion game by a notch, then opt for the fancy mesh covered heels with rhinestone details.

Rule# 4 — 'Gota patti' is IN!  If you thought gota pattis were meant only for clothes, then it's about time you faced a fashion intervention. No! Gota patti flats are a must have. But you must be cautious in pairing the sparkling shoes with your wardrobe. Too much 'bling' may ruin the style factor. The safe attempt is to opt for soft pastels as attire and couple it with gota patti shoes.

Rule# 5 — There is no rule #5. Just go and enjoy yourself.  You are now complete and ever classy with that perfect wedding attire and dazzling shoes.
