Obhoyaronno Hosts Year End “Puppyville”

When it comes to animal welfare and education through humane programmes, the first name that comes to mind is Obhoyaronno- Bangladesh Animal Welfare Foundation. With 2018 right around the corner, the organisation is launching their “Furtune 500” campaign that is looking for a list of 500 donors who will pledge to contribute 1000 taka per month to fund their upcoming year's plans for the welfare, well-being of animals and other animal related initiatives. The event was set to create and increase socialization between people and street dogs and promote adoption rather than buying imported breeds.

On the 22nd of December (Friday), Obhoyaronno organised a day long fundraiser, “Puppyville”, at their Mohakhali clinic that started from 11am in the morning. The event included a Puppy Pen, resident dogs of the clinic that were stealing in naps and hugs from the visitors and stalls set up by local brands such as Blisswaters, Epilogue, Hulu Kraft & Dovetail, Manas, Newton's Archive, Pretty Shitty Art, Scribblistic Thoughts and Stellar; Cookups and The Flourist also had booths selling yummy delectable savoury and sweet vegan food items. Obhoyaronno also had their own stall selling t-shirts, mugs, pet-scarves and other pet toys, all at a very reasonable price. There were also live performances by local bands such as, Indalo, The Armeen Musa Band, Rushnaf, Embers in Snow, Petty Never Grew and Reza from Renaissance. Obhoyaronno has been running the first and only CNVR (Catch Neuter Vaccinate Release) Program since 2012 with the support of Dhaka City Corporation, Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) and Humane Society International (HSI).
