SUMMER EYES

We all know summer means loads of colours. This summer neon eyes or statement eyes have made their way in, and they are here for good. However, if you don't know where to start to start letting your eye do the talking, here's a detailed guide.

We all have our essential creams and browns, but for this season, step away and stock up on cool toned neon mattes, neon liners and lots of glitter. The cool undertone contrasts with the warm summer heat and doesn't feel too heavy on the lids, while the matte keeps the brightness at bay. Going too heavy with dark or warm toned eye shadows might result in a muddy eye lid. So be sure to keep it light. Some classy combinations are burnt orange and navy. These help emphasise the lid. You can also consider the rose and champagne as well as the neon blues and greens.

If you are wondering how to show off these beautiful eye shadows and in what style, look no further. Here are a few styling tips and tricks straight from this summer's fashion runways!

The double flick:
Instead of going just plain black eyeliner, do it twice and swap out one colour for a sparkly or glitter eyeliner. This by itself would create a statement look and will save you the time of having to do a complete makeover.

The reverse
smoky eye:

We have all done the classic smoky eye at one point in our lives. This is pretty much the same except in reverse. Light shade in the corners, darker ones nearer the tear duct. Once again, try to maintain a lightweight combination with bright colours or glitter.

The ombre
eyeliner:

It is just like your basic eyeliner, but with multiple colours creating a gradient effect. Wet a liner brush with saline and dip it into the eye shadows for that creamy liner effect.

The glitter all over:
No time for a complete eye look? Slab on some light glitter shadows all over the lids and you are ready to go! A messy glittery eye can sometimes give you that funky look.

Sunset Streak:
This one is straight off the runway. Models were seen sporting light peachy plum colours on their lids, swiped from one end to the other and connected to the bottom. It creates that sunset like effect on your eyes and is quite magical.

Starry eyes: This is another one from the runway and concentrates on light glitter in the center of the lids that slowly blurs the outlines to give you that sprinkled with pixie dust look.

Rules are out the window for makeup this summer. There are no perfect winged liners, no perfect smoky eyes. From using glitter as eye shadow to lip-gloss as eye shadow, we've seen it all. Play with colours and textures and come up with whatever suits your style and be sure to make a statement this summer!
