State Bank of India to manage visa centres in Bangladesh for 2 more years, agreement signed

The State Bank of India yesterday (August 10, 2022) was re-engaged as the agent for managing Indian Visa Application Centres in Bangladesh for another two years.

SBI Bangladesh Country Head of Operations Amit Kumar and Deputy High Commissioner of India in Bangladesh Dr Binoy George signed the agreement at a ceremony organised at IVAC Dhaka at Jamuna Future Park yesterday, said a press release.

The signing ceremony was presided over by the High Commissioner of India in Bangladesh Vikram K Doraiswami. Officials of the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh and SBI attended the event.

A Priority Lounge was also inaugurated at IVAC Dhaka by the Indian high commissioner.

Doraiswami expressed satisfaction with the functioning of Indian Visa Application Centres in Bangladesh.

Few additional services will be starting soon at IVACs including -- online form fill-up facilitation, submission of forms, slot booking, mobile app, etc, said the release.

State Bank of India has been managing Indian Visa Application Centres in Bangladesh since December 2005 with the opening of the first IVAC in Gulshan.

Gradually, the State Bank of India opened several other IVACs across the country. At present, SBI is managing 15 IVACs in Bangladesh.

IVAC Dhaka at Jamuna Future Park, which started its operation in July 2018, is the World's largest Indian Visa Application Centre.

Besides managing IVACs in Bangladesh, SBI is also providing banking services in Bangladesh through its three branches in Dhaka, Chattogram and Khulna.
