India to start issuing tourist visa for Bangladeshi air travellers from Nov 15: Doraiswami

India will start issuing visas for Bangladeshi tourists from November 15, but they must travel by air, Indian High Commissioner Vikram Kumar Doraiswami said today.

The high commissioner said this to reporters at Brahmanbaria's Akhaura Land Port while travelling to his country.

He crossed Akhaura check post around 7:30am today, reports our Brahmanbaria correspondent. 

Doraiswami said, "Initially, one-month single-entry visa will be issued. But the tourists will have to travel by plane and they can't stay more than 30 days. The duration of visa will be 120 days."  

He also said that visa will be issued for traveling through land ports and railway gradually. 

Asked about BSF's objection over the immigration building in Akhaura, the high commissioner said, "There are many issues like this that need to be resolved. We are holding discussions. Hopefully, both parties will be able to solve the problems."

He said he will return to Dhaka on November 13 through the land port.
