Most people are unable to complete their weight loss journeys because of the gruelling mental and physical aspects involved in the process. There are just way too many blockers involved and at a certain point, our minds and bodies would naturally want to give in and give up. What if we told you that Sanam Reza has found a way to get past all of these blockers? For the past year, her initiative "The House of Groves BD" has been helping people lose weight in the most fun way imaginable. Through dancing!

"The House of Grooves BD is a place where you forget everything and just dance your heart out whilst burning calories," described Reza who is also an entrepreneur with multiple successful clothing and accessories business in the form of Baby Bells and Nari-Handcrafted Bags. Just like most of us, Sanam too struggled to stick to a workout regime to lose weight and so, she began thinking outside of the box. "I have struggled all my life to lose weight simply because I lose interest in the process. I wanted to find a way to make it fun," she added.

Sanam began dancing alone at her home gym and soon realised that it was working. She saw amazing progress and wanted to share her formula with the world. "I always wanted to have a place where I could dance, where in fact anyone could. 3-4 months into my journey, I decided to take a giant step to turn my passion into a full-blown initiative. With the support of my parents, I opened my very own dance studio in December, 2022," Reza explained.

It is after she started The House of Grooves BD that Sanam realised how many people shared her passion for dancing and wished they had a place of their own. "The response has been overwhelming to say the least. I never thought people would react so positively," Reza exclaimed.

The House of Grooves BD is truly a place where you can dance your heart out, and get fit in the process. There are no restrictions to what kind of songs you can dance to, but Bollywood songs are the most popular among students. Classes take place on Sundays to Wednesdays (6PM to 7PM) while there is a second slot on Sundays to Tuesdays (7PM to 8PM). There are monthly, half-monthly and even drop-in options (provided there is space on the day).

Sanam has helped over 50 girls achieve their weight loss goals through her project and her vision is to get more people invested in dancing as a means to lose weight. "I do not wish to be the talk of the town, I just want to genuinely help people and win their hearts," said Reza who is closing into her first year this December. For now, her plan involves session composed of small groups but she wants her grooves to lead the way and see where they take her.
