White — A summer fashion staple

White is a bold and powerful colour. It speaks volumes about your confidence. Most of us shy away from donning this shade, keeping in mind the humidity, rain, and pollution. For the last couple of years, we depended on floral prints for spring because they never failed, but this year, white garments will take over your wardrobe. If you have the right amount of white clothes in your closet, you are always ready for any event.

It is important to learn some easy tricks while wearing white. The colour gives a simple and sophisticated look but can we carry it gracefully during our monsoon season? Here are some suggestions if you are planning to wear white clothes this season.

Pick the right fabric when it comes to white

Not all fabrics look great in white, you must take a closer look at the material while purchasing your white outfits. Cottons, linens, raw silks, Muslins, and white denims are my personal favourites and this season I only intend to wear white fabrics which will be easy, comforting, and give the right amount of elegance.

Make sure you have inners in neutral shades

Do not make the mistake of wearing dark-coloured undergarments while wearing white. Go lingerie shopping before working on your summer closet and grab as many white-and-neutral-coloured undergarments as you wish. Investing in good quality lingerie is the secret to feeling comfortable during monsoon, at the same time consider wearing loose-fit clothes.

The right amount of makeup

During monsoon, you must make sure your makeup is well set. It is best to avoid heavy moisturisers and dewy makeup at this time, a good amount of BB cream with a setting powder is a great start for your base. You can completely skip the heavy contour game and just apply pink blush and lipstick to finish your look. I usually do not apply eyeliners during monsoon, the right way is to apply waterproof mascara to brighten your eyes.

Do not be scared to add colours

If you are not into the head-to-toe monochrome look and are feeling more laid back, you can add some colours to your white outfits. This will also add some character to your outfit, pick a colourful jacket, a floral printed coatee, or a polka dot Muslin scarf. I sometimes dare to wear all white and just grab a bag that adds some colour to my look.

No limit to accessories

When it comes to accessorising your white outfit, it might get a little tricky. Jewellery is very personal, you must wear the right amount and know how much you are comfortable with, it may be big chunky earrings or simple gold hoops. During the rainy season, I completely skip the high heels and bring back my traditional leather flats.

Sporting a white outfit during summer can be a hassle as it is prone to get dirty but with the correct precautions you will look fashionable and be in safe hands.
