Use surface water instead of groundwater

The Daily Star published a report titled “Experts urge maximum use of surface water” on January 3. In fact, the uncontrolled use of groundwater resources may prove disastrous in the future.

Groundwater needs to be conserved. Water harvesting is an ideal method to use rainwater in the non-monsoon season. In addition, Bangladesh should consider building desalination plants to use surface water. India's Chennai city has already developed such a plant for water supply throughout the city. It is difficult to regulate the use of groundwater, but creating awareness can play a vital role in this regard.
