Reduce plastic consumption

It has been reported that 79 percent of the plastic products end up in garbage dumps. Nowadays plastic is used to make a wide variety of commodities such as water bottles, shopping bags, cutleries, and so on. Every year up to 5 trillion plastic bags are consumed by people, according to the UN. And plastic is not compatible with nature: it may take thousands of years for a plastic bag to degrade.

Plastic pollution is dangerous for marine creatures. A number of deaths of marine creatures have been attributed to plastic. In cities like Dhaka, plastic bags are blamed for clogging up the sewer lines and drains.

For the sake of our environment, we should reduce the use of plastic. We can use biodegradable bags and recycle the existing plastic bags instead of producing new ones.
