Quota reformists are not militants

It goes without saying that the quota system in public service is outdated. This old and illogical system has rather become a hindrance for the vast number of job-seekers. Amidst protests over its reforms, the PM's declaration cancelling the whole system came as a relief but things quickly turned around as words were not followed by actions. What's more unfortunate, however, is how the protesters suffered torture and harassment as well as unjust labelling.

Instead of taking action against their attackers, the vice-chancellors of some public universities including that of the DU made disparaging comments, calling them Shibir activists and whatnot. One even went so far as to find similarities between them and militant groups. It's a shame that these universities, once playing important roles in some historic movements of the country, have now VCs who wouldn't even acknowledge the sufferings of students like Toriqul and others.
