Save children from sexual abuse

Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum (BSAF) recently released a shocking report which revealed how incidents of child rape reached an alarming level in the first seven months of 2019, compared to the corresponding period of last year.

Child abuse and rape are very common in our society and many of these occurrences do not even come to light. These violations can occur anywhere, be it inside a school premise, public transport, or even at one’s own home. 

The prevalence of such incidents is having a severe impact on children—physical, emotionally and psychologically. The government has enacted several laws and rules to protect children, but these are not being properly enforced, which is why incidents of sexual violence against children are on the rise at an alarming rate. Social awareness, strict enforcement of law and guardians’ vigilance together can save the children from sexual abuse in our society.
