Overhaul the healthcare system

As our overburdened government hospitals are unable to serve people properly, citizens are compelled to go for expensive private treatment. One of the reasons for this is the tendency of doctors to spend much of their time in private practice rather than treating patients in hospitals.

In private hospitals, too, many doctors are accused of recommending medical tests that may not be necessary at all. Even then, the tests in the diagnostic centres are often found to not be accurate. If a person goes through the same test in different diagnostic centres, they may very well get different results! This leads to a decline in trust towards our private medical institutions.

Now, a number of people are going abroad, especially to neighbouring India, for medical treatment. This overall trend is indicative of our poor healthcare system, which the government seriously needs to rethink and perhaps even overhaul.
