Dhaka's unbearable air pollution

With the arrival of winter, the level of air pollution has sharply risen in Dhaka city. The city has been engulfed with toxic air, smog and dust, causing severe discomfort for people and increasing chances of various forms of illnesses.

The smoke added to the environment from industrial units and brick kilns has only worsened the situation. Diesel-run trucks and other vehicles which are clearly not fit to ply on the roads should also be of concern.

Yet, it seems like the government is not very bothered about the problem of air pollution. Steps to address the problem, despite its long-term ramifications have remained almost non-existent.
