Growing intolerance

Celebrated writer Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal became the latest victim of attacks targeted at secular writers, bloggers and online activists. Dr Iqbal is a supporter of science education, and is an ardent advocate of humanist and secular values. Everybody has the right to express their opinion and practise their ideology, but why is it that secular activists in particular have been targeted lately in the country?

The attack on Zafar Iqbal is shameful, to say the least. The man who attacked Zafar Iqbal has been arrested but I would like to urge the authorities to find those who have carried out similar attacks and are still roaming free. It's important that we bring them to book. If we let them go free, it would only embolden them.
